![]() I waited a while with this particular facepalm to see if more will develop with this story. Sadly it seems that the story fizzled out, which I think is probably not entirely unexpected given that people who live in denial do so almost absolutely. For those that are not aware of what transpired, here is a brief summary: Winnie Mandela was interviewed by Nadira Naipaul for the reputable London newspaper "Evening Standard". In the interview, Winnie whined about how the Mandela name "is an albatross around the necks" of her family. She went on to say how she found it unforgivable that Nelson Mandela accepted the Nobel Peace prize along with FW de Klerk, labeling the latter Madiba's "jailer". Really, Winnie? You were there at the time when Madiba was convicted... at the time FW was 26 years old. Maybe it's true about white bald men... they do all look like FW de Klerk. Or PW Botha. Or Bruce Willis. Or Jason Statham... Whiny also reportedly lambasted Madiba for being a "corporate foundation" whose only real job was to raise money for the ruling ANC party, as well as for "betraying" the black population of South Africa... I guess she probably felt hard done by after staying married to Madiba for his entire stay in prison (27 years if you are living under a rock or in Putsonderwater...) only to have her ass dumped shortly after being released. So after this story broke it caused - as expected - quite a stir. Even the sleepy ANC was startled at Winnies Whiny Ways.. So what did Winnie do? Exactly what any normal person with a history of putting out Stompies would: she denied the interview ever happened. Add your comment
